Fiance arrested for murdering woman techie

New Delhi: The fiance of a 23-year-old woman working with a software company was arrested on Friday for allegedly murdering her in south Delhi, police said.

Monica Jaiswal, who was working with the Gurgaon office of IBM, was found dead in her apartment in Madangiri on Friday morning.

Hours after recovery of her body, police arrested her fiance Ravi Mishra (27) in connection with her murder.

Police claimed that Mishra, who had been in a relationship with Jaiswal for the last three years and was supposed to marry her on Monday, killed her at her apartment on Wednesday as he did not wanted to tie the nuptial knot.

Jaiswal had not been answering her phone for the last two days. Her parents, who arrived from Kanpur, discovered her lying dead in her room with injuries on her head and feet after they came inside by breaking open the door, police said.

Mishra, who was detained for questioning on suspicion, confessed to the crime and revealed that he had visited Jaiswal's apartment on Wednesday evening when the incident took place, a senior police officer claimed.

"The duo had an altercation over the issue of their marriage as Mishra insisted that he did not want to marry her. The verbal dual between them turned physical and Mishra hit her with some blunt object, killing her on the spot. He then silently left the place locking the doors from outside," he added.

The cause of the death is yet to be ascertained and the body was sent for post-mortem. A case of murder has been registered against Mishra, police said.

Mishra, who hails from Bihar, was employed in a private company in Gurgaon.
