Drunkard sets doctor on fire as he refuses money for liquor

Chhindwara: A doctor was set afire by an alleged drunkard when the latter refused to give him money
here on Wednesday, police said.

The doctor sustained 30-40 per cent burns and was admitted to district civil hospital, they said, adding that his condition was stated to be out of danger.

The incident occurred when RMP doctor R S Namdeo was examining patients at his clinic in Chapakhana area police said.

The accused identified as Nandu Gadewal, who is brother of the landlord who has rented out a shop to Namdeo to run his clinic, approached the doctor and asked him to give money for liquor, they said.

However, the victim refused to oblige. Infuriated over it Gadewal poured kerosene on the doctor and set him ablaze. The accused fled the scene after incident and police have launched a hunt to nab him, they said.
