Director in a hurry scripts Mumbai airport drama
Mumbai: It began with suspense and a tinge of intrigue. Then followed some drama and almost ended up as a joke.

Director-producer Ishwar Advani's actions had all the ingredients that could whip up a good masala movie script. It happened after Advani missed two flights to Delhi on Thursday. "I was late for the third flight too as I could not find parking for my BMW," said Advani after reaching Delhi. "I gave the car keys to a petrol pump attendant near the airport and told him to park my car at a five-star hotel close by and rushed to the airport."

Little did Advani imagine the panic this would trigger. The attendant later told the police that though he told the owner to take his car away, he left hurriedly, claiming he was BJP leader LK Advani's son.

"There was a police uniform and gun in the car," the attendant said. The car had a press and police sticker.

After an hour-long inspection, all the police found in the car were CDs of devotional songs. A visiting card and resume found in the car led the police to the owner's identity. "We realised the owner was a film director and objects in the car were film paraphernalia," a police source said.

The police, however, said they could not believe that someone would leave an expensive car with an unknown person.

A case has been registered against Advani for impersonating a public servant due to the police sticker on his car.

"We will arrest him on his return," Additional Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta said. "He has no links with BJP leader Advani. We are even checking if he is the real owner of the car."
