Howrah (West Bengal):
A child was killed and another person was injured when miscreants hurled a bomb inside a club room in Howrah town on Saturday night triggering tension in the area.
Police said some youths were watching TV and playing carrom inside a club room in the Bangabasi More when a crude bomb was lobbed inside by two unidentified men.
While an eight-year-old boy, who was also in the small room, died on the spot, another middle-aged person suffered splinter injuries and had to be hospitalised, police said.
As tension escalated in the area, senior police officers and combat force cordoned off the spot.
Police suspected possession of the club room could be the factor behind the incident but the identity of the group behind the attack was not clear.
