Amravati: A 19-year-old youth committed suicide by consuming poison at his farm allegedly due to a false case filed against him.

The incident took place at Asegaon Purna village of the district on Thursday night.

As per case registered with the police, Sandip Wankhade, the deceased was a good wrestler. Rajapeth police had, six months back arrested two chain snatchers, Pintya Gahukar and Sheikh Salim Sheikh, for snatching a chain from a woman and later had arrested one more youth.

All the three accused confessed to the crime and the Police managed to seize gold from them. But all the three accused allegedly had deliberately involved Sandip's name in the chain snatching incident during police custody remand which made the Police arrest Sandip. However, they could not seize any gold from him.

All the accused had got bail from the court 3 months back.  But frustrated by the allegation, Sandip committed suicide by consuming poison at his farm on Thursday night, according to police.
