Who would believe that a request for extra chapatis would lead to a brawl? Well, certainly not Pratik Gupta and Ravish Singal, two techies from Infosys in Bangalore.

The two of them were beaten up by the staff of a restaurant situated on Church Street in Bangalore, late on June 14.

Pratik and Ravish, along with seven others residing at BTM Layout went for dinner to the hotel.

The incident occurred when one of them wanted some extra chapatis after closing hours. "I know that we were drunk and that it was late. I simply entered the kitchen and requested them to serve us extra chapatis. Instead of refusing me, they started hitting me with utensils," said Ravish.

After the quarrel, the police brought Ravish and Pratik, who were injured during the brawl to Bowring Hospital for medical check-ups.

After the treatment they were taken back to Cubbon Park station for questioning.

At Bowring Hospital, Pratik asked, "Is this the way North Indians are treated? We were attacked by 20 of the staff members of the hotel for no reason. They hit us with utensils. I also lost my cellphone and watch."

One of the officials from Cubbon Park Police station said, "The group of men were drunk when they asked for the chapatis. When they were denied, an argument broke out."

Medical reports revealed high alcohol content in the blood of Pratik and Ravish.
