Bangalore man alleges hacker swindled Rs 50K from bank account

Bangalore: A finance manager of a multi-national company in Bangalore has filed a complaint with the police about his bank account being hacked. In his complaint, Chandrashekhar Shetty has said that the hacker has swindled Rs 50,000 from his account online.

The incident came to light when Shetty received intimation from the bank enquiring about the transaction. The bank staff informed him that Rs 50,000 has been transferred in the account of Jignesh Chatrala from his account.

Shocked, Shetty informed the bank that he doesn't know anyone by that name, nor he has made any such transaction. Thus, the bank immediately blocked his account and asked him
to file a police complaint.

Armed with the new information about the hacker, Shetty filed a case with the police.
The cops have registered the case under Section 60 of Information Technology Act. They said they have obtained vital information about the hacker. "We suspect that the account was hacked from Mumbai and are hopeful that we'll nab the culprit soon," said a police official.

Recently, the bank had issued a public notice urging its customers to be watchful about banking frauds. The alert was issued following a series of complaints that the bank had received, which even involved rise in number of online accounts.
