Andhra Pradesh to digitise Vedas
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday said it would digitise rare scriptures by collecting them from various sources.

The government has constituted a GoM to oversee the effort which will commence shortly, officials said.

Ministers for Endowments, Higher Education, IT and Communications, Information and Archeology, Minorities Welfare, Secondary Education and Law will be the members of this group, state chief secretary P Ramakanth Reddy told reporters here.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams chairman will be a member of the GoM, while ITC department secretary will be the convenor, he said.

The project to digitise rare scriptures like the four Vedas will be taken up in co-ordination with the Viswa Shanti Mission of Vrajendra Brahmachari.

"The Centre and the National Informatics Centre have agreed to assist us in the project," ITC department joint director G Chandrasekhar Rao said.

The NIC would help in digitising the scriptures and posting them on the worldwide web, he said.
