Headmaster of a government school has been arrested following death of a student, who was allegedly assaulted by him near here, police said on Thursday.
Amar Singh Gautam, headmaster of primary school in Saraikhati in Auraiya district, was arrested on Wednesday after the student's father Madan Lal Chauhan filed an FIR alleging his daughter Akanksha, a class three student, died after being beaten up by the principal on December 21.
The girl was admitted at primary health centre, from where she was referred to the district hospital on Wednesday. Akanksha, however, died while being taken to the hospital, police said.
