As reported on March 31, the raped girl, as per the police complaint is 17 years old now, but police sources said they suspected the girl to be much younger.

The girl had run away from a remand home in Delhi twice and came to Mumbai where she met the boy. They allegedly had sex at a hotel in Khar, but being a minor, a case of rape was registered against the accused.

According to the police, the minor has lost her parents and is behind bars in Delhi. She had been staying at the remand home in Delhi since childhood. In 2008, she ran away and escaped to Mumbai.

In March, the Tardeo police caught the girl and handed her to the remand home, where she narrated the whole story. The police then lodged a rape case against the accused.

While Khan has been sent to judicial custody, the victim is at a remand home.
