With the arrest of two brothers from Mira Gaothan in the district, the police on Saturday claimed to have solved a nine-year-old murder case.
Senior police inspector Nitin Thackeray identified the arrested men as Akhtar Aziz Gazi (29) and Babu alias Bablu Aziz Gazi (30), residents of Dahisar.
Mumbra police had found the body of a woman in a field on Shil-Khardi road on June 23, 2007.
The deceased was later identified as Sabina Akhtar Gazi (27), resident of Kolegaon.
Police found out that she and her husband, Akhtar, often fought.
On the evening of June 22, 2007, Akhtar, his brother Bablu and Ms Sabina had a quarrel over cooking of dinner and Ms Sabina allegedly threatened to hang herself.
The brothers, in a fit of rage, allegedly strangulated her with a nylon rope and dumped the body in a field, police said.
