The FBI is leading investigations into the gurudwara shooting in Oak Creek, a Milwaukee suburb in Wisconsin, USA. Six worshippers were killed and the gunman were shot dead on Sunday morning.

The man suspected of the mass shooting at the gurudwara has been identified as former army soldier Wade Michael Page, say US media reports. Page, 40, was shot dead by an officer at the crime scene. A federal official, who did not want to be named, told The Associated Press that Page entered the army in 1992 but was discharged in 1998. He said Page was busted in rank from sergeant to specialist, but gave no reason. (Read more)

On Monday, the police searched the apartment of the gunman, looking for clues about his motive. Generators and floodlights were set up along the street and a bomb squad was on the scene early in the morning.
Kanwardeep Singh Kaleka, whose uncle Satwant was killed in the attack, said one witness spotted a 9/11 tattoo on one arm of the shooter, reports CNN. The police suspect that the man lived in Cudahy, about 12 miles from Oak Creek where the gurudwara is situated.
Reuters reports that authorities said the gunman had used a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun, which was recovered at the scene. They were trying to track the origin of the weapon.
A police officer reached the gurudwara in response to a 911 call. The veteran officer who has been on the police force for 20 years according to media reports, exchanged fire with the shooter outside the gurudwara. The injured officer was taken to a Milwaukee hospital, where a medic said he was in "critical condition." (International media on Gurudwara shooting)
Authorities said they were treating the attack as an act of domestic terrorism.

Wisconsin has some of the most permissive gun laws in the country and had passed a law in 2011 allowing citizens to carry a concealed weapon.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said, "That this senseless act of violence should be targeted at a place of religious worship is particularly painful. I send my deepest condolences to the families that have been bereaved in this incident. Our thoughts are with them in this moment of their grief," he said.
