PPSC chairman passes away

Chandigarh: Chairman of Punjab Public Service Commission S K Sinha today died of liver-related ailment at a private hospital in Mohali near here, family members said.

He was 62 and is survived by wife. The former IAS officer was admitted to the hospital last month. Sinha, a close aide of former chief minister Amarinder Singh, was Principal Secretary to the CM in the Congress government. He became PPSC Chairman in May 2006.

The bureaucrat had also served as Deputy Commissioner of Patiala in 1984 and held several other posts including Director Public Relations of Punjab and Commissioner of Patiala Division.
