Keep Cars Out of Campus, Vote Panjab University Students

Panjab University students in Chandigarh have voted to ban cars from both the north and south campus.

Chandigarh: Students of the Panjab University in Chandigarh have voted in favour of banning cars from the academic ares of the campus. The university is however yet to announce if and when such a ban would be put in place.

The students of the university voted on the car ban in a referendum that was held along with the student union elections, with the results released on Friday.

The university administration has said it held the referendum separately for the north and south campuses.

A survey conducted by the university authorities had revealed that around 23,000 vehicles enter the campus on average every day.
