Chandigarh: One more person allegedly involved in the burglary at a jewellery in Chandigarh two months ago from where robbers looted Rs 10-12 crore ornaments was arrested in east Delhi, police said today.

With this, a total of ten people have been arrested in connection with the sensational burglary, which police said is one of the biggest heist in the country.

"Surinder alias Upender who resides in Sikhera village of UP's Ghaziabad was arrested from near Anand Vihar ISBT yesterday after he put up a stiff resistance," Arun Kampani, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) said.

A gang of 12 robbers wearing police uniforms allegedly barged into the Tanishq showroom in Chandigarh's Manimajra area on January 11 night and looted all the jewellery. They also allegedly looted a mobile showroom in Haryana's Kundli on January three from where they took away 1,000 brand new sets worth around Rs one crore.

Surender told police that he was hiding with the help of his brother-in-law in Panchali village near Meerut.

He was initially working as labourer at a bus stand in Philkhwa. In 2006, he got married but later in 2008 he allegedly murdered his wife over dowry and was arrested.

Earlier police arrested Paras Soni (26), his brother Manav Soni (24), Bhura Qureshi (28), Upender Singh (19), Anuj Kumar (21), Ajay Singh (24), Bhura Tomar (18) and Sonu Raghav (19). Nadeem was arrested later.

Three more persons -- Ali Raja and Umar Duraj - are absconding.

He spilled the beans on the Sonis who were arrested from UP's Vaishali area and recovery of the "entire stolen gold and diamonds", Rs 2.5 lakh, and mobile phones from their house. The other five were arrested from Pilkhua in UP.
