Murdered by boyfriend, abandoned by family
Bangalore: The tragic tale of Tamar Farha Abraham's continues even in death, as an official of the Israeli consulate in Mumbai is collect her body instead of her parents.

Tamar's father father Hari and mother Ruth, who live separately in Switzerland and Israel respectively, requesting the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi to take possession of the body on their behalf.

Police officials told MiD DAY that it was the first time that the family of a murder victim had authorised officials of their government to collect the body, while choosing to interact with local investigating agencies through e-mail.

"We were requested not to subject the body to an inquest. But we insisted that it was as per rules here," the investigating police officer said.

The police have also handed over Farha's belongings to the consulate official after a formal acceptance to go ahead with recording the procedures was accorded.

Farha (28), who held dual citizenship of Israel and Sweden, was killed by her boyfriend yoga teacher Lokesh Chandra Das (31). Lokesh, a married man, killed Tamar Farha about three weeks ago and stuffed her body into a large freezer after, after their relationship soured.

The crime would have gone undetected had it not been for the frequent power cuts in the city. Das met Farha at a yoga camp in Rishikesh in 2007 and the two were having an affair since then.

Harohalli police inspector T Mahadev said, "Investigations will continue nevertheless. The accused's wife Jyothi will soon be summoned and grilled as she happens to be the sole witness."

Mahadev added that it was being ascertained whether Jyothi had any role to play in the murder.
