Politician's teen son, learning to drive, ran over little girl

Aurangabad: The teen son of a politician in Aurangabad was arrested today for running over a two-year-old girl and injuring others when he lost control of the SUV he was driving.

The teenager was learning how to drive, sources said. His father's chauffeur, who was seated next to him, was also arrested. They both were released on bail this evening.

The politician involved is a senior leader from Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

At 8.15 am on Tuesday, security cameras placed in the heart of Aurangabad  at the busy Doordarshan Kendra junction showed a white SUV approaching. It ploughed into a man walking with two little girls. It then hit a motorcycle - the rider is seen flying off the two-wheeler. The car then hit a pole which forced it to a stop.
