Use of 'Peo, Puttar' in derogatory manner banned during polls

Chandigarh: Use of words Peo and Puttar (Father and Son) in a derogatory manner has been banned in Punjab during the assembly election.

An order to this effect was issued by the State Media Monitoring Committee, a spokesperson of the Punjab Chief Election Office said here on Sunday.

Advertisements carrying caricature of state Congress president Amarinder Singh have also been banned, he said.

The Election Commission has stated there is no bar on appointing NRIs as polling agents in the assembly election.

However, the NRI who was to be appointed as an agent should be a voter of the polling station concerned, the spokesperson said.
