Karachi:
At least three people were killed and 24 others injured on Monday in violence in Pakistan's biggest city, a day after deadly twin bomb blasts close to a Shia-dominated housing society here that claimed 48 lives.
One person killed and around 15 injured when gunmen opened fire on a funeral procession for 16 of the 48 people killed in yesterday's blasts in Abbas town.
The firing took place close to the blast sites near Sohrab Goth as the funeral procession attended by hundreds of people was moving towards a graveyard for final rites.
Police said at least one person was killed and 15 people were injured in the firing incident which than led to widespread violence in many parts of the city in which two more people were killed and nine injured. Ten vehicles were burnt and properties damaged by angry mobs.
Some buses and vehicles including three ambulances were also torched near the highway. Six hotels were also burnt. The government announced that pillion riding will be banned from midnight on March 4.
A crackdown against banned organisations will also be launched.
