Rains unleashed by Superstorm Sandy have battered the US East Coast and submerged vast stretches of roads and neighbourhoods. Highways in Manhattan are several feet under water. The Long Beach Island is flooded. On the streets, there are very few people, only gushing water and the roar of winds.
