Jerusalem: Rockets fired from the Gaza Strip struck southern Israel on Thursday, an Israel Radio said, in the second such attack this week challenging an August 26 ceasefire with Palestinian militants that halted a 50-day war.

The report said there were no casualties after the rockets, which triggered sirens in several Israeli towns in the area, hit.

The Israeli military and police did not confirm that rockets had struck and said they were searching for impact sites. "It is possible all the sirens were false alarms, we are checking," a military spokeswoman said.
