Prosecutor in Taseer murder case quits

Islamabad:

Theprosecutor who was pursuing slain Punjab governor Salman Taseer's murder casein a Pakistani court has withdrawn from the case citing security concerns, amedia report said Friday.


ProsecutorSaiful Malook cited security concerns and lack of instructions from thegovernment while withdrawing from the case, the Express Tribune reported.


SalmanTaseer was killed Jan 4 by his own bodyguard, Mumtaz Qadri, who said he killedTaseer because the latter spoke out against the blasphemy law.


 Malooksaid the government had promised to provide him security while he was followingthe case, but it has not fulfilled the promise so far.
