Prince William in helicopter helps save drowning girl

London: Prince William led his helicopter crew on a rescue mission and saved a 16-year-old girl from drowning.

The girl got into difficulties after going to help her 13-year-old sister in the sea off Anglesey island off the coast of Wales, the Daily Express reported.

The girls, from Herefordshire, were swept away during a family holiday.

The 30-year-old prince, called Flight Lieutenant Wales in his regiment, piloted the Sea King helicopter while Master Aircrew Harry Harrison pulled the girl out of the water and winched her to safety.

She was reunited with her sister and mother and all three were flown to a hospital.

"When I got to her, the elder girl was clearly exhausted and was going under the water for what was the very last time," Harrison was quoted as saying.

The defence ministry termed it as "one of the fastest and shortest search and rescue operations undertaken in recent years" by search and rescue helicopter crew.
