Naypyitaw, Myanmar: President Barack Obama says Myanmar's move toward democracy "is real," but the process remains incomplete.

Obama is meeting with Myanmar's President Thein Sein at his opulent palace in the country's remote capital city. It's Obama's second trip to Myanmar, but the country has in many ways stalled in enacting the political and economic reforms leaders promised the US during the earlier visit.

Obama says he specifically discussed the need for elections scheduled for next year to be "fair, inclusive and transparent." He also raised the need for Muslims in the Rakhine state to have their rights respected.

Myanmar's president is acknowledging in his meeting with Obama that his country needs time to enact some reforms. But he says Myanmar will continue with its reform process.
