Militants storm power grid, kill seven in Pakistan

Peshawar:  Pakistani police say several dozen militants armed with assault rifles and rocket-propelled grenades have attacked a power grid station in the country's northwest, killing seven people and taking four hostage.

Police official Granullah Khan says the attack on the outskirts of the city of Peshawar occurred before dawn Tuesday. The militants first killed two people at the scene and took nine with them.

Khan says they then killed five of the hostages as they were fleeing. The bodies were found about half a mile away from the grid station. Four other people are still missing.

The dead included three policemen and four government power workers. The men still missing are all power workers.

Parts of Peshawar still lack electricity because the station was damaged in the attack.
