Funeral on Monday of US Teen Killed in Police Shooting

Demonstrators hold signs as they protest the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown on August 15, 2014 in Ferguson, Missouri.

Ferguson, United States: The funeral of the black teenager shot dead by police in the US town of Ferguson, sparking 10 days of protests, will take place on Monday, the family's attorney said.

Police shot and killed Michael Brown on August 9, triggering a wave of demonstrations that have frequently led to violent clashes with police on the streets of the Missouri town.

"Funeral arrangements for #MichaelBrown have been confirmed for Monday. A press release with complete details will follow," Benjamin Crump tweeted on Tuesday.

The message was retweeted nearly 300 times in less than hour, reflecting the intense interest in the fatal shooting, which has stirred racial tensions.

"There is nothing Michael Brown could have done to justify him being executed in broad daylight, and this is the worst police shooting I have ever seen," Crump previously told CNN.

Crump also represented the family of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed black 16-year-old shot dead in Florida in 2012.
