Flight makes emergency landing because of woman in labour

Volgograd: A flight made an emergency landing in Volgograd  because one of the woman on board was in premature labour, the dispatcher service of Volgograd airport said.

The flight flying from Moscow to Grozny took off from Domodedovo airport yesterday, when a 24 year old passenger suddenly felt she was in labour.

Soon after, the Chief Pilot decided to make an emergency landing in Volgograd to ensure proper medical assistance to the woman. The plane continued its journey to its destination thereafter.

The woman, a resident of Chechnya, safely gave birth to a boy at a maternity hospital in Volgograd where she had been brought in an ambulance.

It was a second emergency landing in Volgograd over the past 24 hours. Earlier, a plane that took off from Vnukovo airport in Moscow landed in Volgograd following an anonymous bomb threat. No explosive device was found on board. The aircraft safely landed in Grozny yesterday morning.
