Baghdad, Iraq:
Iraqi officials say a car bombing and a suicide attack have killed at least nine people and wounded 19.
In the first attack on Thursday, the bomber drove his explosives-laden car into a checkpoint in the town of Mishahda, about 30 kilometers (20 miles) north of Baghdad.
A police officer says three policemen and two civilians were killed while 11 people were wounded in that attack.
A second officer says a parked car bomb struck Shiite pilgrims in Baghdad's western Mansour neighborhood, killing four and wounding eight. The pilgrims were going to the shrine of a much revered saint, Imam Mousa al-Kazim.
Two medical officials confirmed the causality figures. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to release information.
