New Delhi: The historic Lokpal Bill today took a giant step towards enactment after a 46-year wait, with the Lok Sabha passing it a day after the anti-corruption measure sailed through the Rajya Sabha with the support of opposition parties.
  • Other than the Samajwadi Party, I salute all MPs who helped pass the Bill.
    Anna Hazare, Gandhian activist
  • I am very happy that the Lokpal bill has been passed. Will give credit to those in Parliament who passed it.
    Sonia Gandhi, Congress President
  • People are lining up to take credit, but there is an old man who keeps fasting for the bill and appeals to our collective conscience. And then the people of this country deserve credit.
    Sushma Swaraj, BJP
  • We are very happy that Parliament in its wisdom has chosen to enact Lokpal legislation.
    Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister

  • Am very proud of the positive & proactive role played by BJP MPs under leadership of @SushmaSwarajbjp & @arunjaitley in passing Lokpal Bill.
    Narendra Modi, BJP
