Game OF Thrones puts George W. Bush's head on a stake

New DelhiGeorge W. Bush was recently voted the most unpopular American President ever. Just how much do people hate him? Here's an example - HBO drama Game Of Thrones used Dubya's likeness in a gruesome scene featuring the decapitated enemies of the villainous King Joffrey.

Joffrey has his enemies killed and their heads displayed on stakes. This particular scene features rows of such heads on stakes, one of which is the erstwhile President's. Dubya's head also appears in more than one beheading scene in the series.

On the DVD commentary for Game Of Thrones, creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss explain that Dubya's likeness was used out of necessity, saying: "It's not a choice. It's not a political statement. It's just we had to use whatever heads we had around."

They have since apologised: "We can't afford to have [prosthetic body parts] made from scratch, especially in scenes where we need a lot of them, so we rent them in bulk. After the scene was already shot, someone pointed out that one of the heads looked like George W. Bush ... We meant no disrespect to the former President and apologize if anything we said or did suggested otherwise.

HBO has also apologised after the story went viral, saying: "We were deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste ... We are sorry this happened and will have it removed from any future DVD production."
