State govt plans to hold Chennai Open Super Series Badminton

Chennai: Inspired by the success of tennis and squash tournaments in the city, a Chennai Open Super Series Badminton event will also be conducted in Chennai, Tamil Nadu Sports Minister NR Sivapathi told the state Assembly.
 
"On the lines of the Chennai Open Tennis tournament and the squash tournament, a Chennai Open Super Series Badminton will be held (in the metro)," Mr Sivapathi said.
 
A sum of Rs one crore will be allocated for this purpose, he added.
