Tuticorin girl murder: Two arrested

ChennaiThe Tuticorin police has arrested two men for allegedly murdering a 13-year-old school girl whose body was found in a bushy area near Seithunganallur on Friday.

"The men have confessed to have killed the girl; we are interrogating to find out if they had attempted to sexually assault her," the Tirunelvelli range DIG Mr Sumit Sharan told NDTV.

Initially the police suspected foul play and had sent the body for post mortem. According to them the medical examination found no prima facie evidence of rape. However, samples have been sent for SWAB test for further investigation.

The class seven student did not attend classes and did not return on Friday. Worried, her grandfather had filed a complaint with the police and on Friday her body was found in a bushy area. Local people also staged a road 'roko' demanding justice.
