Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam to conduct 'Mana Gudi' celebrations at Andhra temples

Visakhapatnam: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which manages the affairs of famous Lord Balaji temple, in association with Andhra Pradesh Endowments Department, will conduct special rituals at various temples to mark 'Kartik Poornima' festival beginning on November 28.

"The 'Mana Gudi' functions would be conducted at nearly 10,000 temples in the state," TTD representative and in-charge for the Visakhapatnam district M.V.V Subrahmanyam told reporters in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.

As part of the 'Mana Gudi' festival, TTD would offer all materials like turmeric powder, kumkum, prasadam, rakshabandhan and cloth to temple deities to perform the puja as well as distribute these to devotees.

The said material would be handed over to the endowments department for distributing it to temples in its respective areas, he said.

In Visakhapatnam district, the programme would be conducted at 820 identified temples.

Authorities of Goddess Sri Kanakamahalakshmi temple are making all arrangements to conduct the month-long 'Margasirsa' celebrations commencing from December 14.

Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi Temple Executive Officer D Brahmarambha on Saturday said devotes from across the state and neighbouring states of Odisha and Chattisgarh are likely to visit the temple during the celebrations.

"Nearly 10 lakh people are likely to visit and offer prayers at the temple," she added.
