Revised electoral rolls for Tamil Nadu to be released on January 6

Chennai The revised electoral rolls for voters in the state would be released on January 6, 2014, Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Kumar said in Chennai on Monday.

Talking to reporters in Chennai, the revised rolls would be made available across the state on January 6 next year.

Replying to a query, he said that the bypolls for Alandur Assembly constituency have to be conducted within six months and the Election Commission would decide on the date.

Earlier, he participated in a meeting to discuss the election arrangements in south India.

Deputy Election Commissioner R Balakrishnan and Chief Electoral Officers of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Puducherry participated in the meeting.

Based on the recommendations made in the meeting, the Election Commission would finalise the election dates in these states and union territories for the general elections in May next year.
