Visakhapatnam: The day-long bandh called on Thursday by Maoists in the Andhra Orissa Border (AOB) area to protest against the recent encounter in Chhattisgarh failed to evoke any response.

According to police, there was no impact of the shutdown on normal life. Government offices, schools and commercial establishments functioned normally.

Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) operated its buses on schedule in 11 mandals which form part of the area in Andhra Pradesh, police said.

No untoward incident was reported from the area, the police added.
