Chennai:
A 47-year-old man has been arrested at Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu for allegedly sexually assaulting his daughter for around four years.
According to the police, the 24-year-old woman has three children born through her father. The accused is an auto driver and his acts came to light when she was found trying to abandon her newborn child.
The victim lost her mother at a very young age. Trouble began when she joined her father five years ago after she lost her maternal grand parents who brought her up. Her father, according to the police, married again, but often kept the daughter shut in the house and shifted home whenever she became pregnant.
Besides sexually assaulting her, the man had also cut the woman's ear once. "The Child Welfare Board is taking care of the child. We are treating the woman in a hospital now and would legally proceed to conduct DNA tests and examine them both" said inspector Rekha Rani.
The police have registered a case of rape, criminal intimidation, wrongful confinement among others.
