Erode: A leopard has been sighted at Thimbam in Erode.

The animal was found walking along the road last night by some persons proceeding in a car at the third hairpin bend of the Thimbam-Bannari ghat road, comprising 27 hairpin bends.

They took photos of the leopard on their mobile phones and handed over the pictures to the forest officials today, officials said.

The officials said already two wheeler riders have been asked not to operate their vehicle from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. as the movement of wild animals in the Thimbam area were high.

Two months ago a leopard killed a driver and a forest guard in the same area of Kali Thimbam forest range.

Subsequently forest officials trapped the leopard in a cage and it was sent to Vandalur Zoo near Chennai.
