Karnataka Clears 13 Projects Worth Rs 9,912 Crore

Bangalore: The Karnataka government on Wednesday cleared 13 projects with a combined investment of Rs.9,912 crore and a potential to generate employment to 5,986 people in nine of the 30 districts across the state.

"The state high level cabinet committee, headed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, approved the project at a meeting attended by the ministers concerned and senior officials, including Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee," an official told IANS.

Among the big ticket investment proposals cleared are Rs.6,306 crore from Sandur Manganese Iron Ore Ltd, Rs.1,000 crore from Deerfield Logistics Ltd, Rs.704 crore from King Wood Decor Ltd., Rs.250 crore from Toyota Auto Parts, Rs.224 crore from Sree Angadi Dutta Sugars Ltd., Rs.200 crore from Micro Labs Ltd. and Rs.105 crore from Cataler India Auto Parts Ltd.

"The committee also approved expansion proposals of Bilagi Sugar Mills Ltd., Gujarat Ambuja Exports Ltd., Sadashiva Sugars Ltd. and EID (India) Parry Ltd.," the official said.

State high-level committee is empowered to clear projects above Rs.100-crore investment, while the state-level single-window clearance committee, headed by the chief secretary, is authorised to approve projects from Rs.15 crore up to Rs.100 crore.

"The state government has recently amended the Industry Facilitation Act and decentralised powers for approving projects worth Rs.15 crore at the district level single window meetings under the respective deputy commissioners," the official recalled.

The state government had approved 254 projects with a combined investment of Rs.42,956 crore and a potential to create jobs for a whopping 1,72,591 people across the state during last fiscal (2013-14) and first six months (April-September) of this fiscal (2014-15).

The projects span across sectors, including sugar (4), infrastructure (3), automobiles (2) and one each in food-processing, iron and steel, infrastructure and pharmaceuticals.

The nine districts where the projects will be located are two each in Bagalkot, Bangalore, Mysore and Ramanagara and one each in Bellary, Dharwad, Haveri, Kolar and Uttara Kannada.
