Jewellery shops booked for using faulty weighing machines in Tamil Nadu

Madurai: Thirty jewellery shops in Madurai have been booked for allegedly using faulty weighing machines which showed more weight than the actual weight of the jewels, officials said.

The labour department has initiated action against the owners of these shops after the fraud came to light during an inspection of 72 jewelleries.

The inspection was carried out by a team of labour department officials led by Assistant Commissioner of Labour N Govindan, the officials added.
