Complaint filed against Karnataka energy minister before Election Commission

email

BangaloreA complaint was filed before the Election Commission on Wednesday seeking action against Karnataka Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje for reportedly filing a false affidavit while contesting the 2008 assembly polls.

One Hanumegowda, claiming to be a Sangh Parivar leader, in his complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer alleged that Ms Karandlaje had not disclosed the shares she held in a private firm of which she was also a Director between 2007-2010.

She has thus attracted action under the provisions of the People's Representation Act, he said.

Ms Karandlaje successfully contested the Yeshwanthpur assembly constituency elections in 2008 on a BJP ticket.

Meanwhile, the minister claimed the complaint was "false" and made to tarnish her image.

She told PTI that she has requested the electoral authorities to conduct a probe into the complaint to enable the truth to come out.
