Autorickshaws to go on two-day strike in Hyderabad, Secunderabad

Hyderabad: The Auto Unions Joint Action Committee (JAC) has given a 48-hour bandh call in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad from February 19 midnight to press for their demands.

The state government has failed to meet the autorickshaw drivers' long pending demands, including increase in fares in view of the increasing prices of fuel and essential commodities, exemption from the condition to pass class VIII for obtaining licence to drive passenger auto rickshaw and cancellation of police e-challan system, JAC leader Mohd Amanullah Khan said on Monday.

In view of this, the Auto Unions JAC, consisting of 13 unions, has given a 48-hour bandh call from February 20 in support of their demands.

The autorickshaw drivers would take out a rally on February 20 from Baghlingampally to Secretariat and later submit a memorandum to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Khan said.

He appealed to all the autorickshaw drivers to participate in the proposed bandh to make it a success.
