14 people arrested for fake CISF recruitment racket

Chennai Fourteen people, including 11 Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) aspirants, were arrested in Vellore district for allegedly carrying fake appointment letters of the central paramilitary force.

In an unusual case, 14 people landed at the CISF Regional Training Centre (RTC) in Arakkonam in Vellore at about 9.30 am on Wednesday claiming that they have been recruited in the force as constables through an exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).

"The CISF security staff, whom these people met at the entrance gate, was surprised to hear this as there was no joining schedule in the RTC for new recruits. The staff immediately informed senior officials of the force who found that their appointment letters were fake," a CISF spokesperson said.

While ten of these aspirants hail from Hoshiyarpur in Punjab, one is from Bikaner in Rajasthan.

"Three people who accompanied them were found to be agents of the fake recruitment process and they were also handed over to the local police along with the 11 aspirants," the spokesperson said.

The candidates brought along these three men to the RTC as they wanted to be sure that they have been recruited in the CISF and that they were not being duped, the spokesperson said.

"During the course of inquiry, the three persons revealed that one Jaswant Singh of Khichripur in Delhi had taken Rs two lakh each from these eleven persons for providing appointment letter for a job in CISF. They also said that Singh went to the villages of Punjab and Rajasthan wearing 'khaki' uniform in a white Gypsy with a red beacon and convinced people about recruitment in CISF. He also showed the appointment letter to candidates on internet," the CISF said.

Police are investigating the case on charges of forgery, cheating and criminal conspiracy, the spokesperson said.

The RTC Arakkonam is the training centre for fresh CISF recruits in the southern region.
