US man fakes burglary to get out of work, lands in jail

Washington: Most people would fake illness to avoid going to work, but a desperate US man went so far as to stage a burglary at his house so he would have an excuse to stay home.

Dwayne Yeager, 31, from Florida, called the cops earlier this week to report that a burglar had broken into his house.

He told the dispatcher that the windows in his son's bedroom were open and that he saw a white Honda Civic pull away when he reached home.

Police said they noticed his front door was open and that the interior of the house appeared to be ransacked. However, they did not discover any signs of forced entry, according to 'Bay News 9'.

The neighbours provided deputies with information that indicated Yeager was lying. When Yeager was confronted with the discrepancies, he admitted to staging the home burglary to avoid having to go to work.

"He stated his wife was adamant that he go to work and he didn't want to," according to the arrest report.

Yeager was arrested and charged with providing false information to law enforcement.
