If you pride yourself on being a woman comfortable with her contemporary ideologies of independence and free will, here is a video that will give you a quirky reality check. It will restore your faith in the fact that all those chai dates with mummy which, after you cross 25, somehow always tilt towards the question of 'settling down' (read getting married) are not entirely made of gobbledygook.

An American comedy-folk duo from Los Angeles, called Garfunkel and Oates comprising of actress-songwriters Kate Micucci (Oates) and Riki Lindhome (Garfunkel), has come out with a song for an English radio station, called Heart Thames Valley, highlighting the shift in one's dating life paradigm after one crosses over 30.

So, in the video, on one hand we have a ukulele strumming 29-year-old (Kate Micucci) chirping on about how her life is looking up, she feels charming and attractive and refuses to settle for anything less than her idea of perfection, and on the other we have a 31-year-old harrowed soul (Riki Lindhome) in the frame who can't stop yelling 'There is nobody left' over and over again. Her justification being, nobody wants you after 30. There is also this bit where the lady over 30 quips that she should have settled down when she had the chance.

The great news is, this video is all in good humour. And the sad part: their funny dig at this situation is more than just a joke, especially if you seriously considering getting hitched. But we suggest you give it a watch, ladies. If nothing else, the song will make you smile at least.
