Presenting Miss Zero, the Other Miss World

Presenting Miss Zero, the Other Miss World

And the winner is...Miss Zero

If there ever was a stage for androgynous power dressing, it was the 13th Alternative Miss World contest - and boy, did the contestants deliver! Neon lighting glittered at the historic Globe Theatre in London, as contestants dressed in gender-neutral clothing sashayed down the ramp.

Founded by artist Andrew Logan in 1972, the Alternative Miss World contest has been gaining popularity as participants from around the world gather to showcase their crazy, creative costumes.

Just like any other beauty contest, this winner of this event too was judged on the basis of several rounds which included: daywear, swimwear, and eveningwear. However the clothes at this pageant come with a twist, or sometimes several.

Costumes made of latex, inflatable plastic, fur, wheels, cardboard, actual lighting (preferably neon), dramatic wings, flamboyant skirts, deliberately loud make up: this show had everything.

This year's winner, Miss Zero from Russia (above), whose real name is Sasha Frolova, was dressed as a human figure in a white and black latex bodysuit.
