Never-say-enough when it comes to exploring the Himalayas and if you are heading to Kashmir this summer, Baderwah is the place to be.
The last time the country admired Baderwah was 30 years ago in Yash Chopra's film Noorie. But militancy wiped the picturesque valley off the film making and tourism map.
This year, however, with the tourist season about to start, the government is keen to promote it as a safe tourist destination.
Away from the sea of tourists, the beautiful Baderwah valley is tucked behind pine trees and hiding many a gushing streams in its belly. It indeed makes for a perfect getaway.
"It's a beautiful valley and we have done a hike yesterday, we have met very nice, very hospitable people," says Methhonivel, a tourist who was came to Baderwah all the way from Germany.
This year, the state tourism department introduced para-gliding as well in an attempt to woo tourists in search of adventure.
With normalcy returning, Bollywood and tourists will eventually start coming back to Kashmir and in such a scenario, film shooting and sight-seeing would be even more charming in unexplored places like Baderwah.
