Want Parliament to function smoothly, says BJP president Rajnath Singh: highlights

New Delhi: The Budget Session of Parliament is set to begin today with the Opposition vowing to strongly raise issues like corruption and inflation. BJP President Rajnath Singh spoke to NDTV ahead of the session.

Here are the highlights:

We expect the government to present a budget that will reduce fiscal deficit and restore the confidence of the people around the world in the Indian economy
A populist budget cannot restore global confidence in the economy
Government must answer when inflation will come down
We welcome Home Minister's apology
We want Parliament to function smoothly
In the past, adjournment was government's fault (coal scam)
BJP has always played a constructive role in the parliament
We will raise the issue of VVIP chopper deal in parliament; the government must answer
We will decide what kind of investigations there should be - but we want it to be comprehensive
Supreme Court should decide on the quota bill
