Dehradun: The uncertainty over the number of people gone missing in Uttarakhand's catastrophic flash floods has at last come to an end. The state government released a final list of 4,120 persons, including 92 foreign nationals who are missing after the calamity.

Uttar Pradesh accounts for the highest number of people missing, officials said in Dehradun today.

The verified final list released on Monday includes 421 children out of which 168 are from Uttarakhand followed by 96 from Uttar Pradesh, 34 from Rajasthan and 32 from Delhi, they said.

The list verified in consultation with top authorities in different states and neighbouring Nepal has been issued on the basis of FIRs lodged at various police stations across the state's 13 districts and at Uttarakhand Missing Persons Cell in Dehradun, officials said.

The maximum number of people reported missing are from Uttar Pradesh (1,150), followed by Uttarakhand (852), Madhya Pradesh (542), Rajasthan (511), Delhi (216), Maharashtra (163) , Gujarat (129), Haryana (112), Nepal (92), Andhra Pradesh (86), Bihar (58), Jharkhand (40), West Bengal (36), Punjab (33) Chhattisgarh (29), Orissa (26), Tamil Nadu (14), Karnataka (14), Meghalaya (6), Chandigarh (4) Jammu and Kashmir (3), Kerala (2), Puducherry (1) and Assam (1).

It is the final verified list as in many cases family members and relatives of those missing had lodged FIRs in more than one police station, officials said.
