She Died After Falling Out of Mumbai Train During Robbery

When a pair of men tried to steal the woman's purse, she lost her balance and fell out near Thane station.

Thane: A woman has died after she fell out of a  train headed into a station near Mumbai when two men tried to grab her bag.

53-year-old Sheila Shimpi had been hospitalised after the accident which took place on Tuesday. She later died of her injuries.

She was using the train to commute between Dhule, a city in northern Maharashtra, to Mumbai.

When a pair of men tried to steal her purse, she lost her balance and fell out near the Thane station. Her husband says she died after being admitted to the hospital in critical condition.

The police is trying to find the men who tried to rob her.

The victim's son Hemant Shimpi claims that one of the thieves who stole the purse called the family twice from a cell phone which was in the bag and enquired about the condition of the women. The family has handed over the phone to the police for investigation

Hemant Shimpi told reporters that "My mother was waiting to get off the train. This was a reserved compartment and there were no guards. Had there been guards this would not have happened. Also, no one came forward to help immediately and precious time was lost."
