Canberra: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in Australia, today posted a second picture on his Instagram account with the caption "PM Abbott & I turned photographers!"

The photograph, taken in Canberra, showed PM Modi and his Australian counterpart Tony Abbott laughing and playing with toddlers at the Parliament creche. It was instantly "liked" by over 8,000 people.

PM Modi, who opened his Instagram account last week, was seen taking a picture of the children using a digital camera in another image posted by Indian foreign ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin. "Lucky children, they have Prime Ministers of India & Australia attending to them," the official tweeted.

The Prime Minister posted his first picture on November 12 from Myanmar, where he attended the ASEAN-India summit. "Hello World! Great being on Instagram," he said in his message.

He has 1,17,246 followers on the online photo and video-sharing site.

Since he took charge in May, PM Modi has regularly posted updates and pictures on Twitter of his foreign visits - he is currently on his third major tour - and of visiting dignitaries.

The 64-year-old is among India's most social media savvy politicians and has close to eight million followers on Twitter.

He has also encouraged his ministers and officials to become more tech savvy.

Instagram allows its users to share pictures and videos on social networking platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.
